Where The Fewest DUI Drivers Install Court-Ordered Interlocks

Derived from data snapshot taken April 2013 by Washington’s Department of Licensing. DOL provided the number of residents per zip code who are court-ordered to install an interlock device and the number who had installed the device.

KUOW calculated the percentage of people who had complied. The comparison is inexact, and as a result, some zip codes show more people complying than ordered.

First-time DUI offenders get an automatic driver’s license suspension and are usually not ordered by a court to install an interlock device.  Some DUI drivers install an the device even if they have not been ordered. Others do not comply and continue to drive or do not drive.
