Vivian Phillips

Committees: Development

Vivian is the Director of Marketing and Communications for the Seattle Theatre Group, with responsibility for managing all marketing and communications activities for Seattle’s historic Paramount, Moore and Neptune Theatres, where over 450 events take place annually including Broadway, concerts, fine arts, education and community programs. 

She is the organization’s primary spokesperson and representative to the Africa Contemporary Arts Consortium. Vivian also leads special community engagement programs, interacting with funders, local, national, and international arts organizations.

Vivian also served as an Adjunct Professor at Seattle University (2009-2012) where she taught Persuasive Communications in the MFA Arts Leadership program. Vivian served a Mayoral appointment as Director of Communications for Mayor Paul Schell and also served as Interim Executive Director of the City Parks-operated Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center.

She is an independent theatre producer and co-founding member of the Hansberry Project, and also produces television programs on arts and heritage for 4Culture.

For many years, Vivian hosted public affairs programs for the local ABC Affiliate and local PBS station.

As a communications professional, Vivian is the recipient of Silver and Bronze Telly Awards, Outstanding Contribution Awards from the Public Relations Society of America and United Way. She is a Leadership Tomorrow Alum and graduate of the Alki Foundation Political Involvement Institute.
