King County wants your feedback on its efforts to jail fewer young people.

A plan is due to County Executive Dow Constantine later this month.

King County’s Celia Jackson says the survey is more of a gut check. Among the suggestions so far are more job training programs and support for families.

So far the response has been pretty low — and overwhelmingly white.

That’s a problem, Jackson says. “We need to see more youth voices, and we need to see more voices of color," she said.

Jackson says they’ve relied on social media to get the word out and that may be part of the problem. She says they’ll hold public meetings next week.

The survey is open until next Thursday. You can take it here.
