Pride weekend kicked off with Trans March Seattle on Friday night in Capitol Hill. A large crowd marched from the intersection of Broadway and Thomas Streets to Cal Anderson Park.
Following the march, people gathered to listen to performances.
“I just like being around people who I know understand and who look like me," said 22-year-old Sam Bainbridge about pride weekend. "I know I won’t have any problem fitting in."
"I love the history behind it and the activism that takes place during it," said 20-year-old Nina Kranzdorf.
"I love feeling a part of our community that really wants to have really important conversations and be engaging in the world in a really radical way," said Kranzdorf.
After the Trans March Seattle, crowds gathered at the Queer Bar Pride Festival to watch performances by Blair St. Clair and many others.
The 44th annual Seattle Pride Parade will take place on Sunday with the theme, "Pride Without Borders."
