Emails and texts from state lawmakers are public records, judge rules

Kim Malcolm talks with Olympia correspondent Austin Jenkins about the outcome of public records lawsuit against the Washington Legislature.

On Friday, a Thurston County Superior Court judge ruled that state lawmakers must comply with Washington's Public Records Act. The legal challenge against the legislature was brought by a coalition of news organizations, including the Northwest News Network, The Seattle Times, and The Associated Press.
