Princeton prof cancels Seattle appearance after racist threats
Author Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor said she canceled a lecture at Seattle’s Town Hall on Wednesday night after an avalanche of hate email following a speech she gave this month.
The Princeton University professor gave the commencement address at Hampshire College earlier this month and said she described President Donald Trump as “a racist and sexist megalomaniac.”
Taylor said in a Facebook post that after a Fox News story about her speech, emails threatening violence to her began to flow in. She said she’s been threatened with lynching and shooting.
She said she was worried about the safety of her family and herself. An event in San Diego also was canceled this week.
She said progressives must “build a massive movement against racism, sexism, and bigotry in this country. I remain undaunted in my commitment to that project."
Taylor spoke with KUOW in January about what real racial equity would look like in America. You can hear the interview below.
