PLU Says It Intends To Sell KPLU 88.5 FM To KUOW Public Radio

Pacific Lutheran University has announced its intent to sell its public radio license to the University of Washington's KUOW Puget Sound Public Radio.

Pacific Lutheran University on Thursday announced its intent to sell KPLU 88.5 to the University of Washington.

A formal agreement has not yet been finalized.

It is expected that KUOW will manage 88.5 FM, which currently is operated by KPLU.

The acquisition would result in two stations: one for NPR and Northwest news and one dedicated to jazz music.

The deal is subject to approval of the Federal Communications Commission.

The purchase price for the licenses and assets currently owned by KPLU is $8 million.
