“The Long Night,” a documentary about child sex trafficking in the Seattle area, is being released online Monday. Sara Lerner speaks with filmmaker Tim Matsui, who says he believes exploiting minors in this way is a symptom of underlying causes.
The film is a raw, gritty look at the lives of several people thrust into this world. We're right there with 19-year-old Lisa as she shoots heroin in a McDonald's bathroom off Pacific Highway in SeaTac. We meet Natalie's dad, who says he "would kill the whole world" to get his daughter back. And we're there with Natalie herself, remembering, explaining, trying to comprehend.
