Methow Valley 'View-Killing' Cabin Must Go, Judge Rules

Last week a superior court judge ruled that a so-called “view-killing” cabin in the Methow Valley must go.  UW Law Professor Robert Anderson says this is an unusual case for property law in Washington state and it affects all of us.

Tom Kundig, an architect famous for making buildings that merge beautifully with nature, now has to move the cabin he designed on a mountain ridge in the Methow Valley. A ruling says this time his work clashes dramatically with nature: it breaks a covenant that says buildings on that spot must be built to minimize the visual impact from the valley floor.
