Celebrating Seattle’s Record Stores On Eve Of Easy Street Closure

Seattle record store Easy Street is closing its Queen Anne location on Friday. While many local music lovers try to comfort one another, they’re also waxing poetic about how record stores used to be. We talked to one of those people. Marco Collins is a disc jockey at online radio station Jet City Stream. He was music director and DJ at Seattle radio station KNDD-FM through the '90s.

WEB EXTRA: Archive audio of Marco Collins in an impromptu interview with Nirvana's Krist Novoselic at Tower Records on Mercer Street in August 1992. He asks Novoselic about rumors that the band's upcoming Key Arena show would be its last. Novoselic urges him not to believe any rumors, including ones floating around about Kurt Cobain's death. Cobain died less than two years later.
