Yesterday, a group of nightclub and bar owners endorsed Ed Murray for mayor. Nightclub owners have worked a lot with current Mayor Mike McGinn.
McGinn lobbied the liquor control board to extend late night hours and his nightlife initiative was designed to bring club owners into discussion with police and neighbors over issues of public safety, noise and transportation.
In fact, many of the club owners endorsing Murray actually voted for McGinn in the last election. Dave Meinert is one of them. He’s been involved with nightlife in Seattle for years as an investor at The Crocodile, a manager of bands, owner of the 5 Point Café in Belltown, and founder of the Capitol Hill Block Party.
