A mosque in Redmond, Washington has added extra security patrols due to a recent threat. It came just hours after the Orlando shooting.
Redmond police say they received an anonymous call Sunday night. The individual was not making the threat, but passing on information he had overheard.
The FBI is assisting with the investigation.
Mahmood Khadeer is president of the Muslim Association of Puget Sound, where the mosque is located.
He expressed sadness about the Orlando shooting and any retaliation it may spark against Muslims.
Khadeer: “We call on America to unite and join hands together and defeat this evil of terrorism. We cannot let the terrorists win by dividing us.”
Police have not provided details about the nature of the threat, but say they plan to keep up extra patrols. The mosque has also hired four extra guards.
All programs at the Islamic center are going ahead as scheduled.
