PHOTOS: Laser Beyoncé (yes, you read that correctly) at Seattle Center

The Summer of Light at the Laser Dome has begun. The Pacific Science Center has added 17 new laser shows to their summer lineup, with two shows premiering each week. The first show, Laser Beyonce, was on Thursday night.

Laser shows featuring artists like Cardi B, Rihanna, Childish Gambino, and Pink Floyd are included in the lineup.

The Laser Dome has been putting on laser shows since 1976, but a little over a year ago, they got a new laser system.

"It’s a dramatic improvement from what we had before," said Chris Harris, Laser Theater Supervisor.

"The newer system kind of gave us more flexibility to create our own laser shows, so we’ve started doing a lot more of that this year."

On Thursday night, about 25 people gathered in the Laser Dome to watch as 29-year-old laser artist Gabriel Espinoza put on the show.

"I like the creativity," Espinoza said. "Having a job where you can show people something you made is very rewarding."

Espinoza programmed The Shins laser show, premiering next Thursday at the Laser Dome. "I think I've put like 100 hours into it, for an hour long show."

"I want people to have fun and open their minds to new experiences," Espinoza said. "I can't believe this is my job."
